Have you secured the Death mask?

Loving the book 'Wicked'. I've really only started it, but I am engrossed! Now I wish I'd made an effort to get tickets when the play was here (is it still here?).

It's still uncomfortably hot here, 'can't decide if it's quite hot enough for the air conditioner (especially cause the storm is supposed to blow through any minute and cool thungs off). I think the oppressive heat this week is why I've felt so awful. First there was Saturday and Sunday with the sneezing (allergies? cold?) and then for the rest of the week it's been a combo of sneezing, nausea & a very unhappy tummy. So.. either I have a virus or I've been allergic AND maybe dehydrated from the heat?? I don't know, but I really need to feel better - and SOON!!

Weirdness at work this week. A friend/neighbor of my Dad's (an 89 year old man who is QUITE the character, he's always writing articles/books & the inside of his house is like a museum) called and asked if I could ship a package for him. He said it was "the death mask of the angel" !?!?! Obviously, I was a bit confused!! Turns out it was in a HUGE box, that we ended up opening and repacking for him (so it wouldn't break). He explained that it was of his friend Maurice Tillet, The French Angel, a famous wrestler years ago. When he died 3 death masks were made of him. Pat kept 2 of them (one he kept in his office!). When I saw it, it was MASSIVE, the guy had a disorder that hade his bones grow abnormally so he had a very large head. What it looked like was a 3 dimensional white plaster head. Whomever made it, made it more like a bust. I expected it to be just a face, but it went all the way around. I sort of wish I'd taken pictures of it 'cause it was really interesting. But now it's on its way to The Wrestling Museum (he donated it). After we had it all wrapped up I had to keep saying, "Have you secured the death mask?". It just sounds so Raiders of the Lost Ark to me!

sniffle sniffle

I got the suds. Can't sleep, just snifflin' and sneezin'. Blah. Don't know if I'll go anywhere today 'cause of the heat and the unending sneezing. But today is Artbeat and that is EVERSOTEMPTING.... Guess I'll wait and see if the meds kick in.

Spent some time yesterday cleaning out my closet and donated a bunch of handbags and shoes to charity. Really need to control the shoe buying impulse! Those shoes weren't even worn!! Also threw stuff out (mostly my stuff, some of Glen's). I'd gotten these metal shelf dividers like they use in clothes stores and they made a big difference when I put stuff back. I think I'd better get rid of some more though, as I have a few more summer outfits on their way.

Maybe if I'm feeling up to it I can do something (decluttering/organizing) with my studio today. What I need to get done in there is my piano needs to be in there, which means I need to get rid of either my desk or drafting table. I think I might get rid of my huge, ancient (very sturdy) desk and replace it with a smaller computer desk from Ikea. Then the drafting table could be replaced with an IKEA table also, or maybe I can get an L-shaped table? I just need to make more room for an electric piano on its stand. i want to be able to sit i my leather chair and wheel from my desk/work area over to my piano. Ideally I can leave my easel up also.. hmmm. I also think I need to get rid of loads of stuff and try to organize everything onto the shelves.

lazy Saturday home with my sweetie

Glen and I installed the airconditioner. Contrary to the information I was given, the sliding insert "thingy" is NOT long enough for sliding glass doors. It's probbaly 4' long. So, we improvised for now, but I am going to make some calls to compain and see if they'll send me more pieces so I can extend it. Regardless, it KICKS ASS!! We only have it running right now and most of the house is very comfortable, if it were very hot outside we'd turn on the bedroom airconditioner and be all set. Yep, I'm not leaving the house 'til fall.

I've been trying to clean out loads of crap (er..) I mean "collectables" so I'm listing loads of ebay auctions and trying half.com for the first time. I think the only thing that might bother me bout half.com is having the stuff round 'til it sells. I also want to give away as much as I can to Big brother/Big Sister and throw away what can't be donated or sold. I want SPACE. I want to be able to paint and play the piano and entertain and find all my clothes and decorate and..

Glen and I ran out to Walmart last night on a whim (needed trash bags, diet soda, cereal) and I found a great skirt for $15 and top for $12!!! I used to be such a snob, but I'm getting better. As long as they don't LOOK cheap I don't mind, I'm THRILLED that I got such a cute outfit!

I was up all night last night. Thoughts racing, no good reason, just unable to quiet down and stop "planning". So I didn't get to sleep until around 8am this morning. Normally, I'd still wake up around noon or 1pm, as I don't sleep for long periods. Today I'd given in and taken clonazapam, guaranteeing an actual 8 hours of sleep. So, I rolled out of bed around 4pm. Called my sweetie who was on his way home, read for awhile, cuddled the cats. Ate some turkey. When I got around to logging on and tracking a package (that should've been here DAYS ago) UPS claimed to have been here at 4:10. I was awake at 4, there was no doorbell, there's no note outside. Grrr.. If I have to stay home tomorrow to wait for them there will be heck to pay.
